The role and responsibility of Disability ACT is to plan, develop strategic policy, allocate funding and provide and monitor services for people with disability in the ACT and the families that care for them.

These activities are undertaken within the broader directorate framework and in accordance with the Vision and Values statement.

Ms Louise Gray

Ms Louise Gray is a person with a psychiatric disability, conscious of the challenges faced by people with an "invisible" disability. Provided the carer role for father prior to his death. Keen to play a role in ensuring that the rights of people with disability, whether physical, intellectual or psychiatric, are given appropriate prominence. Also keen to contribute to improving community understanding and acceptance of the issues faced by people with disability, including those whose disabilities may not be apparent to the casual observer.
History of working in Australian Government and non-government roles including ACT National Disability Services. Accustomed to working within the parameters of official forums, including the following:

  • National Disability Services -ACT Divisional Committee
  • Joint Community Government Reference Group
  • Community Sector Viability Working Group
  • Disability Workforce Working Group
  • National Disability Services -National Tax and Finance Group
  • Peaks Forum

Identified career highlights

  • State finalist in the 2000 Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Awards.
  • Winner of the 2000 UNSW Scholarship for the Accelerated Development Program.
  • Selected by Finance for the New York IBM Management College, fully funded by Finance.
  • 2000 Chairperson, Finance Women's Network
