Ms Lynnette Hawley
Ms Lynnette Hawley is the parent of two adult sons and one daughter. Her eldest son Nicholas is an Education Officer for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and her son Jesse attends Black Mountain School (a school for students with disabilities), her daughter Maddison will be commencing high school in 2010.
Throughout her career Ms Hawley has worked for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, both government and non government in Tasmania, Queensland and the ACT and is currently working for the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Consultative Group. Ms Hawley has been a member of various Aboriginal Student Support and Parent Awareness (ASSPA) committees, and the ACT Reconciliation committee. Ms Hawley was also the Community Representative on the National Aboriginal Health Strategy Working Party, it was during this period that she completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Education and the University of Canberra.
Ms Hawley is working towards ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disabilities are included in all programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and that mainstream organisations take into account the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
