The role and responsibility of Disability ACT is to plan, develop strategic policy, allocate funding and provide and monitor services for people with disability in the ACT and the families that care for them.

These activities are undertaken within the broader directorate framework and in accordance with the Vision and Values statement.

Carol McKenzieCarol McKenzie

Ms McKenzie is the parent of a son with a physical disability and autism who utilises many disability services provided within the ACT.

Ms McKenzie is an accomplished writer and editor and has used these skills to educate people about disabilities. Ms McKenzie also has a personal understanding and extensive knowledge of psychology.

Ms McKenzie is committed to the rights of people with disability as she is the sole advocate for her son to enable him to access services in the community which enables him to be a valued member of society.
