Input of the conservation strategy stage 2 has now closed.

The ACT Government set aside $4 Million for the conversion of two wings of the former primary school to a childcare centre. This was to replace the Alkira and Gumnut childcare centres. That work has been completed and the new 115 place Flynn Early Childhood Education Centre commenced operations on 16 January 2012.
A $4 Million was allocated to upgrade the remainder of the building for a range of community services and facilities. This will create a centre that provides the same benefits as the other Regional Hubs that have been developed in north and south Canberra.
This accommodation will help a range of community organisations, community service providers and locally based community organisations to deliver an expanded range of services to the local and broader Canberra community.
Expressions of Interest have been received from community organisations seeking to occupy space at the Flynn Community Centre. These Expressions of Interests are being assessed.
The Conservation Strategy for the first stage of the building has been finalised. Because of the size of the report, due to the drawings and pictures it contains the report is not available on the website. The Conservation Strategy for the second stage (which includes the remainder of the site) is being developed. A document by the heritage consultant setting out information about Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Conservation Strategy has been issued. The heritage consultant is seeking views from the community on the values and significance that need to be kept and enhanced.
