ACT Ministerial Housing Consumer Forum

The Minister for Disability, Housing and Community Services, Mr John Hargreaves hosted a ‘Housing Consumer Forum’ on Monday 27 February 2006.

The Housing Consumer Forum enabled Canberrans who live in rental accommodation to discuss housing issues and thereby assist the development of government housing policy.

ACT Ministerial Housing Summit

The ACT Ministerial Housing Summit provided further targeted consultation with key community, private and business sector representatives. The Summit enabled debate on an array of issues including the viability of the social housing system; opportunities for private sector partnerships and targeted housing mechanisms.

Information Papers for the Consumer Forum and Housing Summit

Information Papers have been released by the ACT Government to stimulate discussion amongst participants at the Housing Consumer Forum on 27 February 2006 and at the Housing Summit on 28 February 2006.

Background to Housing Consumer Forum and Housing Summit

A total of five Ministerial Housing Advisory Forums have been held leading up the Consumer Forum and Housing Summit. The Forums have provided an opportunity for community representatives and individuals to consider and comment on specific issues related to housing.

The Department produced five discussion papers for each of the Forums to provide the background context for the Forums.
