Crisis Accommodation Program
Crisis Accommodation Program (CAP) funding is provided to the Australian Capital Territory by the Commonwealth through the Commonwealth-State Housing Agreement (CSHA). The Program is administered by Housing and Community Services in the ACT Government.
CAP funds are used primarily to assist with the capital costs of providing capital for crisis accommodation. CAP funds are used for the establishment of suitable accommodation for a number of Supported Accommodation Assistance Programs (SAAP). CAP funds are also used to assist with relevant programs that target crisis accommodation needs.
The main uses are:
- Relocation or upgrade of existing crisis accommodation services;
- Capitalisation of existing non-CAP funded crisis accommodation;
- Acquisition of additional accommodation for crisis/transitional accommodation;
- Construction of alternative accommodation types such as boarding houses for clients exiting SAAP services;
- Funding assistance to clients or support organisations to enable access to short term emergency accommodation.
