Bimberi will replace the current Youth Detention Centre at Symonston. It will be the first Human Rights Compliant youth detention centre in Australia. As well as being designed to meet Human Rights standards, Bimberi will have the latest in security technology for all security levels from low to maximum. Bimberi will have state-of-the-art recreation, education, training and health facilities.

We require men and women to work in Bimberi who are committed to turning young lives around. You may be someone who has worked with young people in a mentoring, coaching or voluntary capacity. You may have skills in communication, recreation, training that you could bring to bear working with young people in detention. If so you should consider becoming a youth worker in the new Bimberi Youth Justice Centre.

Recruiting has commenced for a range of positions at the new Bimberi Youth Justice Centre near Mitchell.

Bimberi is managed by the ACT Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services.  It is the first human rights compliant youth justice centre in Australia.

Bimberi signals a new era for youth justice in the Territory, and staff will have a critial role in supporting this direction.  It provides young residents with best practise education, training, health and recreatin opportunities - within a safe secure environment.
