Bimberi is the ACT's new Youth Justice Centre and replaces the Quamby Youth Detention Centre.
The Centre is named after the ACT's highest peak - Mount Bimberi.
Bimberi includes residential, education & training, recreation, administration and other support facilities enclosed by a secure perimeter.
The Centre attempts to create a 'normal' environment for the young people, with separate zones for 'public' and 'private' activities. The access roads and car parking are provided outside the secure perimeter. The total site area including the buffer zone is 11.6ha.
