Community Youth Justice
Community Youth Justice is responsible for the supervision of young people who have been placed on a Court Order by the ACT Children's Court or the ACT Supreme Court. The Section provides this supervision through a strengths based management model which provides a balance between community protection, restitution and rehabilitation.
Goals
Community Youth Justice has a commitment to operate a youth justice system that:
- holds young people accountable for their offending behaviour;
- meets its responsibilities to the ACT Children's Court and the ACT Supreme Court by providing professional, prompt, and informed reports and advice;
- provides effective supervision of young offenders;
- ensures the proper care and protection of children within the justice system; and
- reduces the likelihood of re-offending through the provision of a range of vocational/educational and rehabilitation programs.
Community Youth Justice is committed to providing a service that respects the rights of each young person and promotes their physical, social, emotional and educational/vocational wellbeing.
