Welcome to Therapy ACT

Therapy ACT is a program area of the Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services. It provides a range of multidisciplinary therapy and support services for people with delays in development and developmental disabilities aged from birth to age 65.

Therapy and support services are available for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, social work and psychology.  There is no charge for this service.

Current Topics and Information

Hands On - Fine tuning hand skills at home

Does your child have difficulty:

  • tying shoelaces or doing zippers
  • using a knife and fork
  • writing or having pain when writing
  • opening packets or drink containers

Hands On is a free, interactive 2 hour workshop for parents to assist their child with developing fine motor skills, the skills required to complete all the activities mentioned above and more. The workshop will:

  • explore the underlying skills necessary for the development of hand skills
  • provide practical activities that can easily be done at home and within every day life

Bookings essential as numbers are limited.

Client Satisfaction Survey

The Client Satisfaction Survey for 2009 has been finalised. Of those clients who responded the majority, some 87%, were Satisfied or Very Satisfied with the services they received and the overall performance of Therapy ACT.

Therapy ACT greatly appreciates the time and effort taken by all who participated and returned their completed survey forms. Where the respondents provided additional comments, these were noted and will be incorporated into improving our service delivery.

Consultation Process

In November, Therapy ACT conducted a number of focus groups relating to the Specialised Children and Young People's Equipment Loan Service (SCYPELS).
