What is Therapy ACT Equipment Services?
Therapy ACT Equipment Services (TES) is a multidisciplinary team of allied health, technical staff and administrative staff assist clients to acquire appropriate specialised equipment to enable them to engage in life. Services include assessment of client needs, equipment prescription, assistance with funding application, training in the use and care of equipment and ongoing review of a client’s existing equipment. The Children and Young Peoples Equipment Loan Service (CAYPELS) is part of Therapy ACT Equipment Services and loans equipment to for ACT residents up to the age of 16 years.
What do we provide?
Therapy ACT Equipment Services provides the following services to Therapy ACT clients:
- A thorough assessment of a client’s equipment needs by one or more experienced clinicians
- Prescription of specialised equipment including:
- Seating and positioning for both strollers, manual and power wheelchairs
- Seating and positioning in educational and vocational settings
- Complex personal care items (e.g. shower commodes)
- Beds and mattress for clients at high risk pressure care needs
- Complex augmentative and alternative communication
- Complex assistive technology
- Sleep systems
3. Assistance with funding applications for specialised equipment
4. Training and advice on safe use and care of a client’s equipment
5. Monitoring and review of specialised equipment through targeted equipment clinics
6. Short term loan of specialised equipment to ACT residents up to the age of 16 years
Who can use Therapy ACT Equipment Services?
All clients who are eligible for Therapy ACT services can use Therapy ACT Equipment Services.
Clients who require support to acquire basic equipment (Level 1) will receive services from their primary therapist. Clients who require support to acquire more complex equipment (Level 2 and 3) will receive services from Therapy ACT Equipment Services Team.
