Physiotherapy Services

Physiotherapists in Therapy ACT work with clients to optimise physical function and motor development.

What problems does Physiotherapy help with?

Physiotherapists are concerned with movement, balance and coordination, posture, gait and functional mobility, and equipment prescription. Through our management and intervention, we aim to minimise the effects of physical impairment so as to promote a client’s function, independence and musculoskeletal development.

How does Physiotherapy help?

The focus of intervention is on gross motor function, the development of functional skill level and maintenance of range of movement in order to minimise joint contracture and postural deformities.

How are services provided?

Intervention may include:

  • Advice and activities regarding handling and positioning
  • Muscle strengthening and stretching exercise
  • Splinting/casting
  • Trial and prescription of equipment, which will assist in the development of gross motor skills and maintenance of optimal posture and muscle length
  • Education and training programs
  • Individual and group programs developed in collaboration with client and carers.
