Policies and Programs

The Office for Ageing’s activities in support of ageing include:

• providing a coordinated, whole-of-government, inter-sectoral response to the issues affecting older people;
• supporting the work of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing – find out more about the Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing;
• providing community information and education to assist in the prevention of elder abuse;
• providing the seniors information service/seniors' portal;
• managing the ACT Seniors' Card program;
• undertaking a variety of programs to support positive ageing, including the annual Life’s Reflections Photographic Competition, supporting the annual Canberra Retirement and Lifestyle Expo, and providing a Seniors' Rest Station at the Multicultural Festival Food and Dance Spectacular; and
• managing the ACT Government Seniors' Grants program.
