The ACT Strategic Plan for Positive Ageing 2010-2014: Towards an Age-Friendly City was launched by the Minister for Ageing, Joy Burch MLA, on 15 December 2009.
The Plan was developed by the ACT Government in partnership with the Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing and is set within a framework of social inclusion. It aims to provide a blueprint for a coordinated approach across Government and the community to support positive ageing and an age-friendly city where older people are respected, valued and supported to actively participate.
The Plan was informed by community consultations in March and April 2009 and again in August and September 2009.
