On Monday 26 July 2010 the Minister for Health announced an initiative to assist people in need of home haemodialysis treatment, through the ACT Government Concessions Program.
- are a unique patient group whose treatment at home requires the use of large amounts of water.
- The Home Haemodialysis concession scheme expands the current life support rebate provided to customers.
- People in need of home haemodialysis are entitled to access up to $1,200 per annum to assist with the water cost associated with their treatment. The daily concession rate is $3.29.
- People who will receive assistance for home haemodialysis were identified as meeting the following criteria under the ACT Government Concessions Program:
- access to an essential healthcare service;
- equity of access to essential services for vulnerable people; and
- opportunities for everyone to participate and contribute to our community.
- The program is funded by the ACT Government and administered by ACTEW.
- The Program commenced on 1 October 2010.
How to Apply?
Call ActewAGL and apply over the phone. Alternatively, a rebate application form is available on the ActewAGL Website to print and post in www.actewagl.com.au

ActewAGL will confirm an entitlement with ACT Health prior to the concession being approved.
Tenants who are liable for the costs associated with water consumpiton can apply directly to the Community Services Directorate by calling 6207 6138 or email communitypolicy@act.gov.au.
