ACT Seniors Spectacle Scheme

The ACT Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services administers the ACT Concessions Program. The program aims to improve the affordability of essential services for low-income residents of the ACT.

The Scheme provides a $35 rebate towards the cost of spectacles every two years. Applicants are required to pay for the total cost of their spectacles/contact lenses less the $35 Government subsidy, which is payable to the optometrist/optical dispenser at the time of collecting their spectacles/contact lenses.

The subsidy available through this Scheme is not to be used in conjunction with the ACT Spectacles Subsidy Scheme.

The applicant is required to complete an “Application for Assistance - Seniors Spectacles Scheme” form and is required to produce their ACT Senior’s Card.
