The ACT Women’s Grants Program is an ACT Government initiative which aims to advance the objectives and priorities of the ACT Women’s Plan 2010-2015 to improve the status and lives of women and girls in the ACT.

The ACT Women’s Plan 2010-15 is a strategic framework to assist the ACT Government work with the community to improve the status and lives of women and girls in the ACT.

The ACT Women's Return to Work Grants Program is an ACT Government initiative providing women returning to the paid workforce with financial assistance, information and resources to assist them to reach this goal.

Individual grants of up to $1,000 are available to women who have been absent from the workforce for more than 12 months due to caring responsibilities, and who meet the program criteria.

ACT Government Audrey Fagan Churchill Fellowship

Applications have closed.

The ACT Audrey Fagan Churchill Fellowship has been established to honour the late Audrey Fagan, the first female Chief Police Officer in the ACT.

The aim of the ACT Government Audrey Fagan Churchill Fellowship is to encourage ACT women to further their studies and professional development in the areas of law enforcement, care and protection, or professional support services for women who are victims of violence, and to encourage the retention of skills within the ACT community.

An annual $30,000 fellowship is available to women pursuing an overseas investigative project.

Audrey Fagan Young Women's Enrichment Grants Program

Applications have closed.

Mette KraghThe Audrey Fagan Young Women’s Enrichment Grants Program is a component of the Audrey Fagan Scholarships Program and honours Ms Fagan’s support and mentoring of young women.

Enrichment Grants of up to $2,000 will provide young women aged 13 to 18 years with an opportunity to receive financial support to further their interests in a particular area and to participate in a mentoring relationship.

Five grants are available 2012.

Mette KraghMette Kragh will use the funding to participate in the Peru aid program “Wave for Development”. This aid program offers an opportunity for at risk youth to develop healthy extra-curricular activity habits, to gain an appreciation for the natural environment, and acquire needed life skills through Educational Surf programs.

 

 

 

Clare Solomon

Clare Solomon is a young woman who will use the funding to pursue a career in a non-traditional trade for women - fine wood crafting. Clare has previously had a piece of her fine work on display at the Belconnen Art Gallery for the whole of community to see and admire.

 

 

 

Erin PrinceErin Prince is an up and coming ACT athletic champion and community mentor. Earlier this year, Erin participated in the Australian Junior Championships in Sydney and returned home with a gold medal in discus and silver in long jump. Erin is also an active community mentor and is a UN Youth Ambassador and mentor within her Little Athletics Club.

 

 

 

Bridget ReillyBridget Reilly another up and coming athlete who is hoping to qualify for the 2013 International Association of Athletics Federation World Youth Championships to be held in the Ukraine. Bridget also recently completed in the Australian Junior Championships in Sydney, returning with a gold medal in the 800 meters run.

 

 

 

Alicia BruceAlicia Bruce is a talented young musician and singer, who plays the cello. Alicia performs in several school based orchestras and choirs. Alicia is determined to further her natural musical talents and will use the funding to further her cello skills.

 

 

 

 

Hannah EvansHannah Evans is a graceful classical ballerina who is determined to succeed in this highly competitive artistic field. Hannah recently received Distinctions from the Royal Academy of Dance and was selected to participate in the Australian Ballet School’s Interstate training program. The grant will assist Hannah to attend private tuition classes, which will help her further develop her skills and ballet technique in preparation for future auditions and competitions.


 

 

Manaswini LyengarManaswini Lyengar is a passionate young disability advocate for women. Manaswini will use the funding to raise awareness and education on issues that surround women with disability, within her school community. An outcome of her project is to establish a group of young women advocates for disability

Grant Recipients

Audrey Fagan Young Women's Enrichment Grants

The recipients of the 2012 Audrey Fagan Young Women's Enrichment Grants once again cover a huge range of professions and careers.

One of this year’s recipients has begun crafting her career in pine wood crafting and has recently had a piece of her work displayed in the foyer of the Belconnen Arts Gallery. Other successful applicants for 2012 included a ballerina, who is striving to achieve a full time placement in a ballet program and a passionate disability advocate who is aiming to further educate her school peers on issues surrounding women with disabilities.
