ACT Minister for Women Joy Burch is calling on ACT community groups and organisations to apply for the latest round of the Women’s Grants Program, which will provide a total of $100,000 funding for projects to improve the status of women and girls in Canberra.

The funding is available for ACT community groups and organisations which initiate projects that aim to advance the economic objectives and priorities identified in the ACT Women’s Plan 2010-2015.

“The projects funded by the Women’s Grants Program will work to advance women’s economic independence though responsive education and training and lifelong learning as well as projects which will encourage flexible workplaces for women and to seek greater leadership and decision making opportunities for ACT women,” Ms Burch said.
Funding is available under two categories:

  • Capital Building Projects – up to $5000 in funding for individual projects which aim to strengthen the capacity of the community group or organisation to implement and advance the identified economic objectives and priorities of the Women’s Plan.
  • Special Projects – up to $25,000 in funding for individual projects which contribute to research based on gender equality or projects which seek to advance public policy or service development which will implement and advance the identified economic objectives and priorities of the Women’s Plan.
