Community groups and organisations are being urged to apply for a share of $100,000 grants funding to improve the status of women and girls in Canberra.
Minister for Women Joy Burch said the money would go to applicants who design and implement initiatives that make life more inclusive for local women.
“Our annual Women’s Grants Program provides the $100,000 funding each year to community groups and organisations that show they can initiate projects that aim to advance the social objectives and priorities identified in the ACT Women’s Plan 2010–2015,” Ms Burch said.
“All projects funded under the program must work to advance the status of women and girls so they can equally and fully participate in all aspects of community and family life – all while focusing on women’s wellbeing.”
Funding is available under two categories.
The first, Capacity Building Projects can receive up to $5000 funding for individual projects that aim to strengthen the capacity of the community group or organisation to implement and advance the identified social objectives and priorities of the ACT Women’s Plan.
The second, Special Projects can secure up to $25,000 funding for individual projects which contribute to research based on gender equality or projects which seek to advance public policy or service development which will implement and advance the identified social objectives and priorities of the Women’s Plan.
“In the coming months, information sessions will be held around Canberra at various locations with applications closing on December 9.”
